This is definitely one of my fav. places in the kananaskis area. It is suitable for picnics, canoeing, swimming, kayaking, SUP, and floating. It is very secure and open with very fresh mountain air all around. It is a hot spot in the summer, and parking can be hard for that reason, but if you are patient, you'll always get a spot. It also has a great and fairly easy hike, which can be suitable for beginners. Some people also skate here in the winter, but that's definitely not for me. Lol
The lake is very natural but not big, and there is a lot of space for camping and playing, but the disadvantage is that there is no internet.
Next to the campground is a lake where you can dive and swim, if the weather is good.
Beautiful lake with sandy beaches, great for swimming, sun bathing, paddle boarding and kayaking. There are lots of hiking trails around the lake. Both entrance has pit vault toilets, free parking and great views. Second entrance further down the Hiway has boat rentals and less rocky and steep entrance to the lake. Great place for a picnic and spending a day with your family.
I’m in love with this place, there is a picnic area and beautiful mountain views, the lake is an incredible blue color and most importantly only 1 hour from Calgary.
Amazing place for spending your weekends! Beautiful hike, amazing spot for kayaking, paddle boarding or just relaxing in the beach! not a lots of people, amazing air and beautiful view!
This is a popular spot but from my experience it hasn’t been crowded, especially if you head over on a weekday afternoon or earlier in the morning on a weekend. It has ample space to be able to spread out, and sandy shallow areas for swimming that make it a perfect spot on a summer day.
Great little spot for Paddleboarding, water was ice ice cold though! We also went on a windy day which was not great haha, there is a little beach, a big parking lot here, and an outhouse. It’s a fantastic spot to go for paddleboarding or kayaking. Definitely make sure the weather is good though, otherwise it can be quite freezing
